HOW SINGING CAN HELP YOU
*MEANING OF SINGING:*
Singing is the activity of making musical sounds with the voice, usually a tune with words.
*REASONS SINGING IS GOOD FOR YOU*
✅ *SINGING MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER*
There’s an increasing amount of evidence that singing releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine – the ‘happy’ chemicals that boost your mood and make you feel good about yourself.
✅ *SINGING BUILDS A SENSE OF COMMUNITY*
Singing is a fantastic communal activity.
Singing with other people, whether in the flesh or on screen, can help build connections and feelings of togetherness.
✅ *SINGING WARMS OUR HEARTS*
Sometimes when we wake up in the morning, we may feel flat, and without much feeling toward the Lord. All kinds of thoughts and anxieties may immediately flood our minds, bringing us down before the day even starts.
But opening our mouths in song warms our hearts and helps us focus our thoughts on Him.
For example, no matter how we feel, we can begin our day with a hymn such as *_Just As I Am._* We’re immediately encouraged by the words of the first stanza:
_Just as I am, without one plea,_
_But that Thy blood was shed for me,_
_And that Thou bids me come to Thee,_
_Oh Lamb of God, I come! I come!_
The words of this hymn touch our hearts. As we sing, we freshly appreciate our Lord Jesus as the precious Lamb of God who sacrificed Himself to take away our sins. We sense the Lord’s desire for us to come to Him, and we come, just as we are.
✅ *SINGING ALLOWS THE WORD OF CHRIST TO DWELL IN US RICHLY*
Learning a hymn can help the word of Christ dwell in us and save us from being occupied by so many other things.
✅ *SINGING HYMNS COMFORT AND ENCOURAGES US*
Sometimes we may not have the words to pray, but singing a hymn can encourage us greatly.
✅ *SINGING HELPS US PRAISE AND WORSHIP THE LORD*
